VA HOUSE | DISTRICT 39

Legislating with Strength, Serving Southwest Virginia.

By honoring the past and embracing the future, we create lasting opportunities for all...

As a dedicated advocate for the Southwest Virginia community, I bring a wealth of experience and a passion for service to my mission of empowering others. Born and raised in Northern California, I embarked on a remarkable journey at a young age, enlisting in the United States Navy, where I proudly served for 24 years. For 19 of those years, I was a distinguished member of Naval Special Forces, honing my leadership skills and commitment to excellence.

After transitioning from military service, I became a certified MRI Technologist and now work at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where I combine my technical expertise with a compassionate approach to patient care. My dedication to healthcare is matched only by my commitment to my family; I have been happily married to my wife, Tracey, for over 29 years and am the proud father of two adult sons.

With a unique blend of military discipline, healthcare expertise, and a heartfelt commitment to community service, I am ready to make a lasting impact in Southwest Virginia.

Leadership You Can Trust

EDUCATION

I believe that every child, regardless of zip code, family income, or background deserves an education that prepares them for success, not just survival. Education is essential because it empowers individuals with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to shape their future and contribute to society.

Our schools should inspire, empower, and equip our students with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. That also means investing in our public schools: raising teacher pay so our best and brightest want to stay in the classroom.

HEALTHCARE

I also believe that affordable healthcare is not just a privilege but a fundamental right. Every family should have access to quality care without the burden of crippling costs, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—living healthy, fulfilling lives.

I pledge to fight to expand Medicaid and strengthen community health centers, so no one in District 39 goes without the medical attention they need, lower prescription drug costs so that our seniors, veterans, and working families can afford their medications and support mental health and substance abuse programs in every neighborhood—because health is holistic, and help should be available without stigma.

INFRASTRUCTURE

As your legislative leader I promise to take on the utility conglomerates that have tightened their stranglehold on our daily lives. Their decisions ripple through our neighborhoods, inflating bills, limiting choices, and ultimately dictating the terms of our well-being.

For far too long, these companies have placed profits above people, creating a system where our essential needs are subject to the whims of corporate greed. I will also fight to ensure that all Virginians have universal, high-speed broadband access, because in today’s world, being offline is being left behind. Remote work, telehealth appointments, online schooling, and small-business growth all depend on it.

Dedicated Military Service

Klotz, 53 is a decorated Navy combat veteran who served in the Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman (SWCC). Klotz enlisted at age 18 and began his naval career as a nuclear welder on an aircraft carrier. He later transitioned into special operations and has deployed all over the world.

While overseas in 2006, Eric sustained significant injuries and once fully recovered he continued to deploy, working an additional eight years conducting intelligence operations throughout Africa before retiring in 2014.

Loving Husband & Father

Eric currently works as a certified radiologic technologist, practicing in magnetic resonance imaging, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

He lives in Hardy with Tracey, his wife of 29 years and they have two adult sons.

Community Advocate

Eric has been meeting with and listening to local residents about the issues that affect their daily lives. After doing so, he plans to focus his efforts on the challenges surrounding healthcare accessibility, education, and infrastructure.

“I have had the privilege of meeting and serving many veterans since moving to southwest Virginia in 2016. There is a great sense of pride in their service to our country, and that is not only a sentiment that we share, but one that I deeply respect. My military background bridges across party lines and allows me to relate to a wide variety of people.”

Virginia stands at the crossroads of heritage and progress, where deep-rooted traditions fuel a bold future. Eric Klotz will ensure Virginia remains a beacon of opportunity and strength for generations to come.
